Before Philip Toshio Sudo left us in the Spring of 2002, he recorded this remarkable journal on the website, sharing with everyone his strength, vision, and heart. This final entry graced the front page of the site for months afterwards:

June 1 2002

Sorry to say, but the work of Zen Guitar has been put on hold lately. As some of you know, I've got a heavy-duty battle with cancer that's ongoing (my online cancer journal has more details). Unfortunately, that battle has taken all of my attention away from Zen Guitar. So if you've written me and haven't heard back, please be patient; I've got a mountain of correspondence, and I try to answer it when I can.

I still have high hopes for the ZG method book. If I can get that done (and get healthy), I see this site rising to a whole new level, providing the basis for workshops and a vibrant online community. With your help and some divine intervention, we can build this dojo into something grand.

As I've said before, the idea of an online Zen Guitar Dojo has so much potential, especially as the technological possiblities of the Internet increase. I've laid out some of those ideas in a ZG Plan. I welcome your comments on the plan, and any help you might offer to help realize it. In particular, if you have programming expertise or money to invest as an active partner, please contact me.

I'll continue building this site at my own pace, as my health allows. But the ultimate success will be determined by you (see Welcome). The more you can bring to this site, the better it will be. I'll announce the launch of the new site by e-mail when it is completed. (Sign the guest book to make sure you're on the mailing list.) In the meantime, be well, and may you follow the Way wherever it leads.
